
Margaret Thomas earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Georgia in 2001. She quickly decided that education was the career for her, so Margaret enrolled in a teacher certification program at Georgia Southern University. She began teaching in December 2001 and continued with graduate school, completing her Masters in Reading Education in 2003 and Media Specialist certification in 2008. Margaret taught middle grades language arts in Glynn County prior to joining the Georgia Credit Recovery team in June of 2008. Her current role is Coordinator for the Credit Recovery Program. Margaret believes that technology is a vital part of being a literate individual in the 21st century, so she is excited to support the combination of technology and education that Georgia Credit Recovery offers students.

Sarah Newman graduated from Syracuse University in 1998 with a Bachelors degree in Music with Performance Honors. In 2000, she earned her Masters degree in Music Business from The University of Miami. Before entering the field of education, she worked as a marketing coordinator in the print music industry. After deciding she wanted to pursue a career in education, Sarah taught music to emotionally disturbed students in South Florida and worked as a special education teacher in Savannah, Georgia. Sarah has been with Georgia Virtual School since 2007. She taught AP music theory and served as department chair for the electives department before taking on the responsibilities of Coordinator for Georgia Credit Recovery and Coordinator for Special Needs for Georgia Virtual School. For Sarah, supporting students and schools to further education in Georgia through the use of technology is very exciting and fulfilling.
