Sarah Newman graduated from Syracuse University in 1998 with a Bachelors degree in Music with Performance Honors. In 2000, she earned her Masters degree in Music Business from The University of Miami and in 2013 her Specialists degree in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University. Before entering the field of education, she worked as a marketing coordinator in the print music industry. After deciding she wanted to pursue a career in education, Sarah taught music to emotionally disturbed students in South Florida and worked as a special education teacher in Savannah, Georgia. Sarah has been with Georgia Virtual School since 2007. She taught AP music theory and served as department chair for the electives department before taking on the responsibilities of Supervisor of District Support for Georgia Virtual Learning. For Sarah, supporting students and schools to further education in Georgia through the use of technology is very exciting and fulfilling.
